He is the former Head of Aviation for Origin Energy and has held senior operations roles within BP as well as a decorated career in the Royal Australian Air Force.
Sean’s interest in positive safety outcomes and human factors has driven him to explore the areas of resilience engineering and contemporary safety theory. His passion is to understand workers roles within organisations, and he has an operational empathy for managements desire for safe and efficient operations.
He is a published academic author with expertise in operations research, critical risk management, program management, crew resource management, audit and incident investigation techniques.

Justin Ryder is a seasoned aviation leader specialising in management, critical risk systems, and safety, with over two decades of experience. His diverse background includes positions as a commercial airline captain, executive officer, instructor, evaluator pilot, and director of operations. Justin’s expertise spans both military and commercial aviation, allowing him to improve safety systems, quality assurance, and risk mitigation across industries while optimizing efficiency.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a as former RAAF Air Mobility Group Director of Safety and Standards, Justin revamped the safety management system with a critical risk framework and optimised governance. This initiative elevated training standards, enhancing operational capacity while reducing hazards.
Justin’s exceptional leadership and expert guidance have earned recognition throughout his career. He effectively implements risk management programs, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
